Engineers’ Day Celebrated at UIET, Kathua Campus
Kathua, September 15: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, celebrated Engineers’ Day on September 15, 2026, with great enthusiasm and fervour. The programme was organised to celebrate the spirit of innovation, excellence, creativity and technological advancement, while highlighting the significant contribution of engineers to nation-building.
The programme brought together students and faculty members to commemorate the contributions of engineers and encourage young minds to develop a spirit of innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving.
The event commenced with a formal introduction by Er. Javaid Ahmed Rather, I/c Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, who highlighted the significance of Engineers’ Day and the vital role played by engineers in shaping a technologically advanced and sustainable future.
A major attraction of the celebration was a Quiz Competition, in which 24 students from Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering participated. The participants were divided into four teams, with six students in each team. The quiz tested the students’ knowledge, awareness, logical thinking and technical aptitude, creating an engaging and competitive learning environment.
The quiz competition was followed by an insightful student speech session, in which Mahir Goutam (Semester 3, CSE), Iesha Rajput (Semester 1, CSE) and Shreya Thakur (Semester 1, CSE) shared their views on engineering, innovation, technology and the responsibilities of young engineers.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus, in his message, extended his greetings to the students and faculty on Engineers’ Day. He emphasised that engineering is not merely about technical knowledge but also about innovation, responsibility and finding meaningful solutions to real-world challenges. He encouraged the students to think beyond conventional boundaries, embrace emerging technologies and contribute towards building a progressive and self-reliant nation.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, congratulated the organisers, faculty members and students for successfully conducting the programme. He highlighted the importance of developing a combination of technical competence, communication skills, creativity, teamwork and ethical values among engineering students. He urged the students to utilise their knowledge for the welfare of society and emerge as responsible professionals capable of addressing the challenges of the future.
The concluding remarks were delivered by Dr. Riaz Ahmed Khan, I/c Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and faculty. He emphasised the importance of academic and co-curricular activities in nurturing confidence, teamwork, leadership and professional competence among students.
The celebration concluded on a positive and inspiring note, reinforcing the message that engineers are not merely creators of technology but also builders of a better, innovative and sustainable future.
