University of Jammu, NIELIT launch free certificate course in Business Data Analytics

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: The Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) initiated a comprehensive free certificate course titled ‘Business Data Analytics’ (10 Credits).

The entire course is sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) under the project ‘Skill Development for Digital J&K and Ladakh’, being implemented by NIELIT. Ms Ayushi and Mr Nikhil are the resource persons for the course.

The course aims to enhance the employability, professional competencies and industry readiness of students. The skill-development programme has been designed to provide students with meaningful exposure to contemporary business practices and workplace requirements through structured interaction, experiential learning and skill-oriented sessions.

The sessions will cover areas of relevance to commerce students, including data analytics and its business relevance, data preparation and cleaning, spreadsheets and automation, data privacy and responsible AI, and industry-oriented employability skills.

The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations by enabling students to develop practical competencies alongside their academic knowledge.

Speaking on the initiative, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Head, Department of Commerce, said that such academia-industry collaborations are an important step towards implementing the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, particularly its emphasis on multidisciplinary learning and industry-academia linkages.

The collaboration with NIELIT is expected to provide students with opportunities to understand the practical application of concepts taught in the classroom and develop competencies required for a successful transition into professional careers.

The programme also reflects the Department’s continued commitment to outcome-based education and placement-oriented education for its students.
