Three-day Student Induction Programme commences at JU’s Kathua Campus

Kathua, August 12: A three-day Student Induction Programme for newly admitted students of BCA (Data Science), BBA, B.A. English, MCA and MBA programmes commenced today at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu. The programme aims to welcome the new students to the university environment and acquaint them with the academic, co-curricular and institutional ecosystem of the Campus.

In his message, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, welcomed the newly admitted students and extended his best wishes for their academic journey. He encouraged them to make effective use of the academic and other facilities available at the Campus and remain focused, disciplined and actively engaged in their studies and overall development.

The first day of the induction programme featured a series of engaging activities aimed at familiarising students with the Campus, facilitating interaction with faculty members and peers, and providing an understanding of the academic framework of their respective programmes.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, who welcomed the newly admitted students and motivated them to make the most of their university life.

This was followed by an interaction with Dr. Rajani Sarangal, I/c Head, Department of Management School; Dr. Meenakshi Thakur; Dr. Surekha Phakwrya; Dr. Bharti Rana; and Dr. Nisha Chaudhary, who addressed the students and encouraged them to actively participate in academic as well as extracurricular activities.

An expert lecture was also organised as part of the day's programme, providing students an opportunity to gain valuable insights and broaden their understanding beyond the classroom. Sh. Jasbir Singh, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu, was the resource person.

Interacting with the students, Sh. Jasbir Singh motivated them to develop a strong academic foundation and emphasised the importance of strengthening their fundamentals and building a sound conceptual understanding from the beginning of their programmes. He encouraged the students to remain curious, cultivate a habit of continuous learning and make consistent efforts towards their academic and professional growth.

The students were also apprised of the academic structure, rules and regulations governing their respective programmes, enabling them to understand the academic requirements, framework and responsibilities associated with their courses. The interaction also provided them an opportunity to seek clarification regarding their academic journey and university life.

The expert lecture was followed by an introduction session, during which the newly admitted students introduced themselves to the faculty members and their batchmates. The activity provided an opportunity for the students to interact with one another and develop a sense of belonging to the Campus community.

The students were also taken on a guided Campus visit to familiarise them with various facilities and important locations.

Dr. Reemani Verma coordinated the overall programme. Lt. Amit Sharma, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Nomita Sharma, Dr. Ritu Sharma and Dr. Princcy Verma were also present during the programme.
