University of Jammu organized Live Mass Singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ – The National Song of India

Jammu. March 30: In commemoration of the historic completion of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ – The National Song of India, a series of events are being organized throughout the Country in the Special Phase, 23rd to 30th March 2026. In the series, the University of Jammu organized Live Mass Singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ – The National Song of India by the faculty and students of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu at Padma Sachdev Sur Samvaad Rangsthal, University of Jammu on 30th March 2026. Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies was the Chief Guest at the occasion. Other dignities present at the occasion included Prof. Meena Sharma, Chairperson Utsaah the Clubs, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector Kathua Campus, Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Vikram Sahi, Incharge Librarian alongwith members of Campus Cultural Committee, students and scholars of the University of Jammu.
The team who rendered live singing of the National Song included Mahi Sharma, Mamta Shan, Priyanshu Gupta, arav Nargotra,Laksh Dalotra, Tahyra Shamim, Navraj Singh and Anand Kumar under the guidance of Dr. Jasmeet Kaur who was also the lead singer. Nitish Devseeman, a student of Department of Dogri also recited a self-composed poem in the honour of Shaheed Bhagat Singh The programme was coordinated and conducted by Sumeet Sharma. The event also featured exhibition of Vande Mataram Paintings and Signature Campaign in the honour of the martyrs of Indian Freedom movement.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma & Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur & Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Dean, SW), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Ms Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer) and Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor). The sound was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul while the management was looked after by Sunny Singh, Sachin Sharma and R.P. Singh.
