Centre for Women’s Studies Organized One-Day Civil Defense Training workshop for
ICDS Anganwadi Workers and Supervisors at CDPO Office R.S Pura, Jammu

Tuesday, 23 rd December, 2025: The Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu
organized a one-day Civil Defense training programme for ICDS Anganwadi Workers and
Supervisors students from the Bal Ashram at RS Pura, Jammu, with the objective of
strengthening preparedness and response during emergencies and disasters.
The training workshop was conceived under the able guidance of Prof. Savita Nayyar,
Director, Centre for Women’s Studies. In her address, she emphasised on the vision behind
organising the specific training for Anganwadi women workers. Highlighting the significance of
empowering Anganwadi workers and supervisors with essential skills, she stated that the training
programme focuses on creating awareness about civil defense measures, disaster management,
first aid, and community safety. She asserts that the workshop will sensitize the participants
about their crucial role as frontline workers in disseminating safety information and providing
immediate support during natural and man-made emergencies. Further, she stated that this
workshop is a milestone in the mission to create informed and proactive citizens and training
shall be very helpful for women of any age to provide assistance in the situation of emergencies.
The Centre also expressed gratitude to the Civil Defence Department, for the support and
encouraging the students to participate in this important training workshop.
The experts from the Civil Defense Department conducted interactive sessions and
practical demonstrations on emergency response techniques, evacuation procedures, and basic
life-saving skills. The training emphasized the importance of preparedness, coordination, and
resilience at the grassroots level. The chief Warden, Paramjit Kumar and Warden Vijay Magotra
also attended the Workshop. The programme witnessed active participation from more than
hundred ICDS functionaries and students from Bal Ashram, who appreciated the initiative and
expressed that the training will help them serve their communities more effectively during crisis
situations.
Dr. Saranjit Kaur coordinated the training programme and Dr. Disha Sharma presented the
formal vote of thanks, both faculty members, Centre for Women’s Studies.
