University of Jammu organizes Interdisciplinary “Tree Talk: Intersections of Literature and Science”

Jammu – The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, successfully organized an interdisciplinary session titled “Tree Talk: Intersections of Literature and Science” in the Botanical Garden on November 21, 2025, as part of the Library Week celebrations. The event, coordinated by Dr. Bindu Sharma, brought together faculty members, research scholars, and students to explore the inspiring connections between literature and science.
The inaugural speech was delivered by the Head of the Department, Prof. Sangita Gupta, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary discourse and the role of libraries in fostering such intellectual exchanges. Dr. Reenu Thakur provided a thoughtful introduction, highlighting the objectives and significance of the “Tree Talk” initiative for the academic community.
Renowned environmentalist Mr. Om Prakash Vidyarthi led the main session, offering deep insights into the ecological and literary value of trees and their representation in both scientific and literary contexts. Adding a cultural touch, Mr. Sanjit Khajuria captivated the audience with a melodious song performance, seamlessly blending art with the event’s intellectual spirit.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Research Scholar Kumar Chitraketu, who acknowledged the contributions of all speakers, organizers, and participants, and reinforced the University’s ongoing commitment to collaborative learning.
