Kathua Campus (JU) organizes Expert Lecture on Data Analytics & IPR

Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized an expert lecture on the topic “Data-Driven Insights and Intellectual Property Rights: A Pathway to Innovation”. The resource person for the session was Dr. Ashok Sharma, Assistant Professor and In-Charge Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu.

In his address, Dr. Sharma elaborated on the growing importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) with a focus on patents and copyrights as vital tools for safeguarding innovative ideas, research outputs, and creative works. He encouraged students to develop a culture of innovation while being mindful of protecting their intellectual contributions. He further emphasized that awareness of IPR not only helps in protecting one’s work but also fosters responsible research practices and ethical growth in academia.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing the lecture. He remarked that the topics addressed are of immense relevance in today’s fast-changing world, where data has emerged as the new fuel and intellectual property is a crucial asset for national development.

Earlier, Dr. Sourabh Shastri extended a warm welcome to the resource person and highlighted the significance of such expert sessions in broadening the academic and research exposure of students.

The lecture was attended by faculty members and students of the Department. Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Bharti Rana, and Dr. Pranav Ratta were also present during the occasion
