Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu Celebrates Librarians’ Day
Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu, celebrated Librarians' Day with great enthusiasm to honor the legendary Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The occasion was graced by Prof. Sangita Gupta ( Dean, Planning & Development and Head, DLIS ) as the Chief Guest, who was warmly felicitated by the staff of Dhanvantri Library.
Prof. Sangita Gupta addressed the gathering with her inspiring words of wisdom, reflecting on the relevance of Dr. Ranganathan’s vision in the modern digital era and highlighting the evolving role of libraries as centers of knowledge and learning. She encouraged students and scholars to make libraries an integral part of their academic and research journeys.
Dr. Vikram Singh Sahi, In-charge Librarian shared his valuable thoughts on the remarkable contributions and achievements of Dr. Ranganathan in the field of Library and Information Science. He emphasized that Ranganathan’s principles remain a guiding light for libraries even in today’s era of rapid technological advancement.
The proceedings of the event were led by Ms. Azmit Begum, and the program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Deepti Padmanabhan, Assistant Administrative Officer.
The event was well conducted by the Library Activity Committee under the able convenership of Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Librarian, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from departmental library professionals, research scholars, and students.
