Thrilling Finale of University of Jammu Inter-Departmental Tournament 2025–26
Jammu, May 05: The University of Jammu witnessed a thrilling culmination of the Table Tennis and Chess events on Day 3 of its much-anticipated Inter-Departmental Tournament 2025–26 for Men and Women held at the University Gymnasium Hall and Table Tennis Hall, the event was organized under the esteemed patronage of the Chairman, Campus Sports Committee. The tournament aims to foster a spirit of unity among various departments, promote physical fitness and encourage healthy competition among students. The final matches in both Table Tennis and Chess categories were marked by enthusiastic participation, strategic brilliance and exceptional sportsmanship from the competitors. Students from multiple departments showcased their skills and competitive spirit, drawing loud cheers from supporters and spectators. The atmosphere was electric as finalists battled it out with determination and grace, reflecting the true essence of university sports. The tournament is being conducted under the dynamic leadership and overall supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, and efficiently coordinated by Sh. Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI. Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba highlighted that events like these not only promote physical health and mental wellbeing but also play a key role in stress management and student productivity. He added that such inter-departmental competitions enrich the campus culture and contribute to the all-round development of students. Results of the matches: Final Matches – Table Tennis (Men) In a high-intensity clash, the Mathematics Department emerged victorious over the Law Department with a score of 2–1. Both teams exhibited commendable coordination, agility, and resilience. The Mathematics team displayed superior shot placement and composure under pressure, sealing their championship title with grit and determination. Final Matches – Table Tennis (Women) The Physical Education Department claimed the Women’s Table Tennis title defeating the Law Department by 2–1. The Physical Education team demonstrated excellent footwork, quick reflexes, and team synergy. The Law Department showed strong resistance, taking the match to a decisive third game, but Physical Education held their nerve to secure the win and lift the trophy. Final Matches – Chess (Men) In a high-intensity clash, the Zoology Department emerged victorious over the MCA Department. Final Matches – Chess (Women) The Physical Education Department claimed the Women’s Chess title by defeating the MCA Department. Match Officials: Sh. Raj Kumar Bakshi, Sh. Ravish Vaid, Sh.
