University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) is providing repair, fabrication and analytical services catering to the requirements of various teaching and research departments of University of Jammu significantly contributing to uninterrupted laboratory operations and strengthening the exponential research framework across disciplines. There has been substantial increase in work load of USIC from the previous year. During the period 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 USIC, University of Jammu, successfully undertook and completed 139 repair, fabrication and analytical assignments. Further, USIC has conducted an instrumentation awareness session among the PG students to familiarize them with physical measurement and control devices which bridges the gap between textbook theory and real-world application. Recently, USIC has also conducted a one-day Hands-on Training Programme regarding the RT-PCR analytical techniques among the research scholars of science departments of University of Jammu. Competent Authority of University of Jammu assigned the job to USIC regarding the renewal of DSIR Registration Certificate issued to University of Jammu by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research New Delhi for availing the customs duty exemption on the procurement of consumables and scientific instruments used for teaching and research purposes in the University of Jammu, which has been renewed till 31-03-2029. Further, with the commissioning of advanced instrumentation in USIC there is addition in the duties of office of USIC from routine nonscientific procurements to the specific requirements of complex instrumentation. Office of the USIC has successfully procured items required for the smooth functioning of USIC.
