UIET, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, organises an interactive session on “Entrepreneurship: Jammu & Kashmir Start-Up Policy 2024–2027.”
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, organized an informative and interactive session on “Entrepreneurship: Jammu & Kashmir Start-Up Policy 2024–2027” on October 15, 2025. The event aimed to create awareness among students about entrepreneurship opportunities and the various provisions available under the J&K Start-Up Policy. Mr. Dheeraj Handoo, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI (Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute), Kathua, was the esteemed resource person for the session.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector and Coordinator of UIET, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic economy. He encouraged students to develop innovative ideas and contribute to the growth of society by becoming job creators rather than job seekers.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, highlighted the core principles of vision, passion, resilience, and calculated risk-taking. His address provided a strong motivational launchpad for the session. The speech effectively set the tone for the event, inspiring students to view challenges as opportunities and to embrace the role of change-makers.
Dr. Mahesh Koul, President of IIC, UIET Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, introduced the resource person and highlighted the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in today’s academic and industrial ecosystem.
During his talk, Mr. Dheeraj Handoo elaborated on the Jammu & Kashmir Start-Up Policy 2024–2027, discussing its vision, objectives, eligibility criteria, funding mechanisms, and support infrastructure for budding entrepreneurs. He also shared real-life success stories of young entrepreneurs from the region, motivating the students to think creatively and pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.
The session concluded with an engaging interactive segment, where students asked insightful questions regarding start-up registration, government support, and incubation facilities. A formal vote of thanks was given by Er. Sushant Gagal, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering.
