The Campus is run by the Rector/Director under the supervision of Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Poonch Campus was founded in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 at Dingla, Janyar-The Poonch Campus site by former chief minister Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad. Since 2008 to 2021, Poonch campus was being operated from Govt. Degree College Poonch with the introduction of E-learning Certificate course for uplifting the rural women. Later in 2012, the first degree course i.e., M.Sc. Sericulture was introduced in Poonch campus. As of now the campus is being operated from the campus site at Dingla, Janyar. Separate boys and girls hostel are also being operated from the rented accomodation. Various attempts have been made by the director and the teaching staff to have collaboration between the department and the silk industries during the recent six months in strengthening the Department. Faculty members of the Poonch Campus under the supervision of worthy Director, Prof. Rakesh Vaid are working tirelessly to let the campus to achieve great heights in future and will excel the curricular and co-curricular activities. The campus is always available to support students throughout their academic careers. The Campus has many important facilities such as a well equipped playground, library, computer room, common room, etc. From the current academic session 2026-27, the campus is going to offer undergraduate (four years) and post graduate (One /Two years) degree programmes in Sociology and Political Science.
