Achievements  of School

• The School has been awarded “A” Grade by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, after accreditation by Biotech Consortium of India Limited (BCIL).
• The School of Biotechnology has established a Next Generation Sequencing facility (under PURSE scheme)  which is first of its kind in the J&K state. 
• The School has developed research laboratories with facilities like  in-situ hybridization facility and animal cell culture facility as recommended by the experts in last academic meet  (funded by DBT) and will be carrying out research related to Animal Biotechnology and Immunology. 
• The School has developed a Green House facility for maintaining and growing different plant varieties and high altitude plants. 

Achievements of Students

• A wide-ranging research interests combined with excellent facilities provide an  environment for enthusiastic exchange of  ideas among students.
• Many students have secured admission to Ph. D programs in prestigious institutions of the country like IISC Bangalore; ICGEB, Delhi; IMTECH, Chandigarh; NII, New Delhi.
• Faculty has established collaborations and MOU at International and National level for higher research. Research scholars are encouraged to attend conferences and workshops.
• Many students have been placed in Govt. organizations as KAS officers, Assistant Professors, School lecturers, Officers in Food Corporation of India etc, and some in private research laboratories. 
• About 50% students have cleared UGC-CSIR /DBT NET JRF /ARS NET/SRF/LS/GATE/SLET.
• Three students have been awarded Post Doctoral fellowship by the DST, New Delhi.

Students/alumni based activities/events

• Regular lectures and interactions by international/national academicians are held to abbess scholars and students with the latest developments in the field of biology.
• Interaction of industry with faculty and students in the school is held at regular basis for career counselling and generation of industry-academia interface.
• Regular invited lectures by the alumni of the School to make students aware about the various avenues for placement.

Study Tours

• 3-week research oriented training program at NIB, Noida, which also includes visit to various industries at Baddi, HP.
• Local trip to pharmaceutical/bioprocess based industries at Samba and Bari Brahmana.
• Short field based visits to make students aware of the local biodiversity
