DLL organizes Career Counselling workshop at GGHSS Shastri Nagar

 

Jammu December 9: Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu today organised a career counselling workshop for the students of class 12th in the premises of Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu and Mrs. Ravinder Kour, vice principal of the school. The vice principal  formally welcomed the guests and spoke that career counselling is a process of gaining knowledge that will help the students to make a proper career plan.

Dr. Priyanka Sharma in her inaugural address oriented the students about the need to equip the students with the generic skills like communication skills, employability skills for landing into suitable careers. She also focussed upon personality traits like perseverance and determination as pre requisites for landing into choicest careers.

Dr. Shash Pal , Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, JU and Dr. Shubhra Jamwal Assistant Professor, Govt. College of Education, Jammu were the resource persons. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL coordinated the programme and also spoke about importance of career counselling.

Dr. Shash Pal informed the students about the career prospects and further study options after completing schooling in Science stream. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal apprised the students about importance of good communication skills with various activities. 

About 48 students of the school while giving feedback appreciated the programme. Akshara Singh, student of the school successfully anchored the programme. The coordinator and teachers of the school also attended the programme. Madam Shivani Pathania, Convenor Career Counselling Cell of the school presented formal vote of thanks.
