Summer Camp for Children Concludes at University of Jammu

Jammu, June 22: The Summer Camp for Children, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, concluded today at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium with vibrant and impressive presentations by the participating children.
During the camp, children received training in Theatre and Dance from expert resource persons, Mr. Sumeet Sharma (Theatre) and Mr. Sunny Mujju (Dance). The workshop is an annual initiative of the Department of Students Welfare conducted under the patronage of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
Addressing the valedictory function, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Prakash C. Antahal, commended the children and their trainers for delivering engaging and impressive performances. He appreciated the dedication, enthusiasm and hard work reflected in the presentations and emphasized the importance of such developmental activities in nurturing young minds.
Prof. Antahal stated that participation in creative and cultural programmes helps children build self-confidence, improve communication skills and develop a positive outlook towards learning and personal growth. He further observed that such experiences play a significant role in shaping children's personalities by encouraging self-expression, teamwork, discipline and leadership qualities, thereby contributing to their holistic development.
Chairperson, Campus Culture Committee, Prof. Monika Chadha, highlighted the vision behind organizing the workshop. She said that the initiative was aimed at identifying, nurturing and refining the inherent talents and capabilities of children through meaningful cultural engagement and expert guidance. The workshop provided a platform for participants to explore their creative potential while learning from experienced trainers.
Prof. Chadha expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of children in artistic and cultural activities, noting that such engagements offer a healthy and productive alternative to excessive screen time. She stressed that encouraging creativity and imagination through interactive learning experiences is essential for fostering holistic growth and helping children discover and develop their unique talents.
Among those present on the occasion were Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, Campus Culture Committee, who lauded the vibrant performances by the children; Dr. Pritam Singh, Associate Dean Students Welfare; members of the Campus Cultural Committee; and parents of the participating children.
The children confidently showcased their acting skills during the programme.
The events of the Department of Students Welfare are being executed by a team comprising Prof. Prakash C. Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Culture Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Culture Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean Students Welfare), Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur and Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Deans Students Welfare), members of the Campus Cultural Committee and Students Cultural Representatives, Ms. Mansi Mantoo (Officer In-Charge Students Welfare) and Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor).
The workshop was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
Children who participated in the summer camp included Bhavya Majotra, Devansh Soodan, Manya Rajput, Shambhavi Rakesh, Tanshika Raina, Kritya Gupta, Meeshita Mahajan, Prajval Antahal, Rishit Gupta, Aaradhya Sagotra, Aafreen, Kumaril Bhatt, Ethan Choudhary, Purvang Mehra, Arvita Thakur, Reyansh Thakur, Tashi Gandotra, Daksh Padha, Iknoor Kour, Sargun Sharma and Tanishqa Sharma.
Sound arrangements were managed by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul, while the workshop was assisted by Sachin Sharma and R.P. Singh.
