Institution’s Innovation Council, University of Jammu Engages Young Minds at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu as a Part of ‘Buildathon’ Initiative

Jammu, October 13, 2025 — The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu, conducted an inspiring and interactive session with students of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under the Buildathon initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The event aimed to ignite creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students by introducing them to the concepts of innovation, design thinking and entrepreneurship at an early age. Representatives from IIC Jammu University engaged with the students through hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations and motivational discussions focused on fostering a culture of innovation.

Members of IIC, University of Jammu, highlighted the importance of introducing innovation frameworks to school students, saying, “Early exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship helps build a generation that is not only job-ready but also job-creators. This interaction is a step towards shaping a visionary and empowered youth.”

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various classes, who showcased their creativity and presented problem-solving ideas relevant to their surroundings. The IIC team guided them through the basics of ideation, prototyping and the value of research and development.

The Buildathon initiative, under which this outreach was conducted, is part of a nationwide effort by the Ministry of Education to instill a mindset of innovation and invention among school and college students, in line with the goals of the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP).

The event concluded with a group activity where students brainstormed innovative ideas for addressing real-world issues like water conservation, clean energy and smart education tools, leaving the IIC team impressed by their enthusiasm and ingenuity.
