DLL organizes one-day career counselling workshop at GDC Paloura

Jammu, October 8: Taking forward the vision of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, to extend educational opportunities beyond the campus of JU, the Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, the Career Counseling Cell of the Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, organized a one-day career counselling workshop on “Self-Employment as a Career” and “Careers in Artificial Intelligence” for the students of Govt. Degree College, Paloura, today.

This workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, and Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of GDC Paloura. The special resource persons from the University of Jammu were Dr. Harleen Kour, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, and Mr. Rahul Sharma, Department of IT and Computer Sciences. Dr. Rewa Khajuria was the coordinator of the workshop.

In her welcome address, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal, GDC Paloura, highlighted the importance and necessity of such programmes for the students. She motivated the students to become employers rather than employees. She also apprised them that artificial intelligence is a new skill which everyone should learn. She further advised students to take advantage of such activities, as these programmes can shape their careers in a better way and lead them to the path of success.

Dr. Harleen Kour, in her presentation, apprised the students about the characteristics of self-employed individuals and self-employment opportunities with various government schemes available for students. Mr. Rahul Sharma, in his presentation, explained in detail the various tools of Artificial Intelligence which can make our lives easier by performing tasks in seconds. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, JU, highlighted the importance of Career Counselling to the students and motivated them to choose career paths in which they feel happy and satisfied.

The faculty members of the college, along with 57 students, attended the programme. The whole programme was conducted by Dr. Vishal Magotra, HOD History, GDC Paloura. He also presented the formal vote of thanks.
