JU organises Debate competiton
The Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, successfully organized a debate competition for the students of M.Com Semester 1 and 3. The event revolved around a significant and impactful issue: “All stray dogs in Delhi NCR to be moved to shelters: Supreme Court.”
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, who presented strong arguments both in favor of and against the notion, showcasing their critical thinking, research skills, and eloquence.
The participants included Shivane Bhardwaj, Harshita Sharma, Diya Bhat, Ria Sambyal, Rakshita Mahajan, Ankit Sagoch, Karan Singh, and Shine Thakur.
Among them, three participants emerged as winners after a rigorous evaluation by the judges, making the competition a memorable and intellectually enriching experience.
The event was organized under the supervision of Professor Jeevan Jyoti, Head of the Department (HOD), who motivated the participants and emphasized the importance of such activities in addressing social issues, along with nurturing analytical ability, confidence, and public speaking skills among students. She further encouraged students to take part in similar competitions in the future to enhance their academic and personal growth.
The debate proved to be an engaging platform for young minds to deliberate on pressing social issues and strengthen their perspectives, aligning with the department’s vision of fostering holistic development.
