Reasi Campus, JU, organized Induction programme for new students
To acquaint the newly inducted students with the academic culture and curriculum of the institution, Reasi Campus, University of Jammu, organized one day Induction Programme on 07-08-2025 for the first semester students of MDP Sociology for the Academic Session 2025-26. On the occasion Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head, Dept. of Sociology, University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker while Prof. Baljit Singh Mann, Head, Dept. Of Political Science University of Jammu was Guest of Honour and invited speaker. Prof. S. K. Pandey, Director, Reasi Campus, welcomed the invited guests and newly entrants. He has also given the presentation about the University of Jammu and Reasi Campus in particular. He has interacted with the students and assured them to provide best facility in terms of teaching and learning process along with their stay in the hostel in the campus. He emphasized to the students to take active participation in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in addition to excellence in learning both hard and soft skill as these are main contributor for overall success in their future endeavor. He said that this place is no just about education and training but also about building a personality, an attitude, a character and a versatile person. He urged to the students to be enthusiastic and participative in every event to come in addition to an excellent performance in their academic.
Prof Vishav Raksha has interacted with the students and given an elaborated talk on human values and professional ethics. She emphasized an importance of various types of human values which are essential for the students to have a successful and fruitful life. She highlighted the role of universal human values like honesty, respect, integrity, cooperation and empathy. She motivated the students of newly admitted batch to appreciate the beautiful spacious campus which is equipped with latest facilities technology and rich library.
Prof. Baljit has delivered talk on dynamics of state-society relationship. While speaking, Prof. Singh stated that civil society is site where the state-society relationship takes shape. He further explained that state and civil society have organic relationship as their goal is to serve the society. He concluded his presentation by articulating that the civil society needs to correct the course and evolve the constructive relationship between the state and civil society. The major responsibility lies with the state to acknowledge and recognize genuine civil society mobilization and downplay and check the hegemonic social mobilization for the interest of the people and society at large. He also interacted with all the students one to one and motivated them for their successful endeavor.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Nisha Sharma and vote of thanks presented by Dr. Pankaj. The director Prof S.K.Pandey has appreciated the efforts of the faculty members, non-teaching staff and the students for making the event successful especially in particular Dr. Ravi Kumar, Mr. Sandeep and Mr. Babloo Salaria and also to the student of 3rd semester for beautiful presentation of Saraswati bandhana.
