A Week long celebration was held in Surabhi Nursery School and Day Care Centre, P.G. Department of Home Science, University of Jammu on the occasion of 77th Independence Day.
Prof. Rahul Gupta, Registrar, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he emphasized that there is a need to sensitize our budding stars regarding National Integration. He said that the aim should be to develop the children holistically and to remove all the prejudices based on caste, colour, creed and religion. He further highlighted that the future of the nation are its children and hence they need to develop stronger feeling of citizenship values. He also initiated the BalVatika Plantation Drive in the Surabhi Nursery School, along with faculty members, children, Master’s Students and members of the Landscaping and Beautification Committee, JU. He was mesmerized by the performances of small children. He concluded by congratulating all the students and faculty members for their endeavours.
Prof. Samridhi Arora, Head of the Department in her welcome address congratulated all the participants and appreciated their efforts in the celebration of 77th Independence Day in the Department. She also highlighted the history of Surabhi Nursery School and briefed about other such events organized by Nursery School from time to time.She added that, a special efforts are required for sensitizing and developing positive Citizenship among children.She also informed that during the weeklong celebration, the Children of Nursery School participated in various activities like card making, flag making etc.
The small children presented cards to Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, and Prof. Rahul Gupta, Registrar, University of Jammu. The Week-long celebration culminated in a beautiful cultural bonanza by the students of Surbahi Nursery School and Master’s students of Department of Home Science.
The activities were conducted under the supervision of Ms. Mamta Singh, Ms.Pooja Saraf, Ms.Seema Sharma and the helpers Ms.Neelam Devi, Ms.Anu Sharma and Ms.Sushma Kumari.
The Faculty members from the Department of Home Science, JU, also graced the occasion and prominent among them were Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof Shashi Manhas, Prof. Sarika Manhas, Dr.Charu Mohan, Dr,. Priyanka Sharma, Ms.Anu Choudhury and other faculty members who were present on the occasion were Prof. Piyush Malviya Head, Department Of Environmental Science and Prof.Sanjana Koul, Director, School of Biotechnology, JU, who are also members of Landscaping and Beautification Committee, JU. The Balvatika Plantation drive was organised with support form the JU Landscaping and beautification committee.
A formal Vote of thanks was given by Ms.Mamta Singh, Sr.Teacher, Surabhi Nursery School and Day Care Centre.
