University of Jammu condoles the passing away of Padmashri Awardee Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai, Former Dean and Head of Sanskrit Department, University of Jammu. Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu in a condolence message to the bereaved family on behalf of the University fraternity recalled Prof Ghai’s immense contribution to the university of Jammu and to the educational and social life of J&K. Her passing away is a big loss to the academic world. Her scholarly pursuits also won her President of India ‘ Certificate of Honour, Gold Medal  by Jammu and Kashmir Government for social work.^, Dogra Ratan award, lifetime achievement award  and Stri Shakti Puraskara . Apart from Sanskrit, she also specialised in ancient Indian History &Culture and epigraphy.
