Kathua Campus (JU)organizes maiden Two Day Sports Meet

Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized maiden Two Day Sports Meet wherein more than 30 students from MBA and MCA departments participated in the disciplines of Chess and Carrom. This event played an important role for the newcomers as they got an opportunity to interact with their seniors and also help in all-around development of personality by inculcating discipline, focus and team spirit.

The participants had a neck to neck combat for the victory and a huge crowd enjoyed the thrilling performance of the participants. Among the winners, the first prize in chess was entitled to Aarzoo Sharma (MCA) whereas Shantam Khajuria (MBA) was the runner up. In Carrom, the first prize was awarded to Rahul Sharma (MCA) and the runner up was Sachin Sharma (MCA).

Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu appreciated the efforts of Campus Sports Committee, Kathua Campus for successfully organizing the sports event and encouraged the students to actively participate in sports activities besides their regular academics. She said that regular sports keep us physically and mentally fit and also give us a peaceful mind which helps in fast learning and understanding things. Further, she said that the Government has framed a new Sports Policy for the UT of J&K recently to focus on the youth of J&K for their participation in sports.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Convener, Sports Committee, Kathua Campus thanked the members of the Sports Committee for their cooperation and support and ensured the students for organizing similar activities as regards Sports and Yoga in near future. 

The matches were officiated by Ms. Anjally Gupta, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Zahin Ansari and Mr. Pranav Ratta.

Dr. Vivek Sharma, Mr. Amit Sharma, Mr. Pankaj Khajuria, Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Ms. Avni Sharma, Ms. Ritika Goyal, Dr. Mahesh Koul, Ms. Kamakshi and Ms. Tiharika Nath were also present.
