The 73rd Republic Day of India was celebrated at the University of Jammu with great enthusiasm & patriotic fervor. It was attended by teaching faculty, officers, staff and students of the University of Jammu. Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu unfurled the National Flag and released the Tri-Colour Balloons in presence of Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Controller Examinations, Prof. Parkash C. Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Sanjana Kaul, Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee and other faculty and staff members of the University.
Prof. Dhar, greeted the University fraternity and expressed that it is a matter of pride for all of us that over the period of years, India has excelled in every field and we, the people of India have to take lead in our own capacities to take it to further heights. He recited the Preamble of the Constitution of India so that everyone, right from children to the youth may understand the spirit of the Constitution and uphold it. He acknowledged the great visionaries who penned the world’s longest written constitution and also paid homage to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and quoted the vision of the creators of our constitution that there is a need of translating the political republic into a social republic as well. On the occasion, he also expressed his gratitude towards the covid warriors who have performed remarkable duties during unprecedented tough times and insisted the university fraternity to adopt covid appropriate behaviour. He expressed his gratitude towards Sh Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor, University of Jammu for showing faith in the University of Jammu for implementation of the New Education Policy early and effectively, he invoked collective efforts of all the stakeholders of the university for the same. He also shared that the University of Jammu has been rated prestigious 4 stars in innovation. Asserting that university has a larger responsibility towards society, he stressed on the importance of skill development, entrepreneurship, innovation, industry ready and research oriented approach. He urged youth to take active participation in ‘Unnat Bharat’ and ‘NSS’ activities so that they may extend service to the society.
Earlier Prof. Parkash C. Antahal delivered the welcome address and greeted the august gathering on the auspicious occasion. He elaborated the importance of this day of National Pride. He gave precise information regarding the history and process of India’s becoming a great Republic. He expressed salutations to all the protagonists of Indian Freedom Struggle, because of whom we are able to celebrate these National Festivals as free citizens. He asserted that it is equally important for us to remember with reverence the role being played by our army and paramilitary forces in defending our country from external and internal threats under all circumstances.
At the arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Guard of Honour was presented by the Jammu University Security Guards led by Capt. S.R. Dubey, Chief Security Officer. Dr. Garima Gupta, Assistant Dean SW presented the vote of thanks whereas the programme was conducted by Sumeet Sharma. The event was conducted under guidance of Prof. Prakash. Antahal, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Sanjana Kaul, Prof. B.K. Bajaj, Dr. Garima Gupta and Dr. Pritam Singh, Assistant Dean SW and was coordinated by R.S. Bandral, Kulbhushan Thakur, Balwant Slathia and Arif Paul.
