JUVC Releases Khusbeer Singh Shaad’s poetry Book

The Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) in collaboration with Department of Urdu, University of Jammu today organized book release function in which “Shah Khasnas Taam” a poetry Book of reputed Urdu Poet of the subcontinent Khusbeer Singh Shaad translated in Kashmiri language by Dr Shahida Shabnum was released by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain, Seminar Hall, Department of Urdu.Vice-Chancellor stressed that it is of paramount importance that Dogri language be translated in various languages so that maximum people benefit from this rich literature. Prof Dhar also congratulated Dr Shahida Shabnum for taking the challenge of translation and further said that the title of the book is very much impressive and meaningful. On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor recalled the latest collection of Gulzar in which he had translated a Dogri poem of Padma Sachdeva into Urdu and also read a poem, translated by Gulzar from Dogri to Urdu.

Mr Khalid Hussain while speaking on the occasion emphasized that more Urdu books should be translated in regional languages that also includes Dogri and Punjabi. He informed that one of the Professors of Karachi University translated the poetry of Baba Bhule Shah into Urdu which was highly appreciated. Complementing Dr Shahida Shabnum , Khalid Hussain described her as a talented writer who had authored several books in Kashmiri language. She is doing a tremendous job for the upliftment of the Kashmiri language and literature. Khusbeer Singh Shaad interacted with the audience and discussed his interest with Urdu language. He said that he learnt Urdu at the age of 40 years. He has so far published about 15 poetic collections in Urdu. Different students have done their M.Phil degree on his poetic collections. Khusbeer Singh Shaad also recited his Urdu poetry. Prof. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed , HOD Urdu, University of Jammu presented a welcome address while Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, conducted the proceedings of the program . Among others noted Urdu Poet Premi Romani, Dr Chaman lal, Dr A.R. Manhas , Dr Deepali Wattal, Mr Suraj Singh, Mr Rakesh Kumar, Dr Farhat Shamim, staff member of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, students , scholars and faculty members of the Department of urdu and large number of civil society members were also present on the occasion.
