University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus (JU) organises Student Induction Program

One-week Student Induction Program aimed at welcoming and orienting newly admitted students of academic session 2026-27 was inaugurated at UIET on August 19, 2026. The first day of the Student Induction Program commenced with the auspicious lamp lighting followed by welcome address by worthy In-charge Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, Dr. Rockey Gupta.

In his address Dr. Rockey Gupta warmly welcomed all the newly inducted students to UIET, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, and congratulated them on beginning an important and exciting phase of their academic journey. He encouraged the students to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution and to actively participate in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. He emphasised that college life is not merely about acquiring a degree but also about developing knowledge, skills, confidence, discipline and a responsible attitude towards society. He urged the students to maintain regularity, punctuality and sincerity in their studies and to cultivate a spirit of curiosity and lifelong learning.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus, in his message, congratulated the students and encouraged them to actively participate in the

curricular and co-curricular activities throughout their course for their wholistic development.

As a part of the inaugural session, an expert lecture was delivered by Sh. Ravinder Singh, DySP, Headquarters, Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, on the crucial issue of Drug Abuse. The lecture sensitised the students about the harmful consequences of drug abuse and emphasised the importance of making responsible and healthy choices.

The program also featured an informative lecture by Dr. Riaz Ahmed Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, who interacted with the newly inducted students and provided them with valuable academic insights.

The first day concluded with a Poster Making Competition organised on the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan.” The competition provided students with an opportunity to express their creativity while spreading awareness about the menace of substance abuse and the vision of a drug-free and developed India.

Dr. Reemani Verma, Assistant Professor, Communication Skills, UIET, coordinated the entire program. All the faculty members of UIET were present during the program.
