JU’s Bhaderwah Campus Organizes One-Day Online Career Counselling Workshop

Bhaderwah, April 10: The School of Management Studies (SOMS), Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, successfully organized a one-day online Career Counselling Workshop on April 09, 2026, with the objective of guiding and empowering students to make informed career choices and creating awareness about higher education opportunities in the field of management.

 

The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Prof. Rahul Gupta, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu.

In his message, Prof. Gupta lauded the proactive initiative of SOMS in reaching out to students across various colleges in India and sensitizing them to the growing significance of management education in today’s competitive and dynamic environment. He emphasized the importance of continuous academic engagement and encouraged the faculty to organize more such career-oriented programmes. He also assured full institutional support for initiatives aimed at enhancing student awareness and career readiness.

 

The workshop commenced with an insightful address by Dr. Mohammed Avais, Senior Assistant Professor, who presented a comprehensive overview of Bhaderwah Campus. He highlighted the campus’s academic excellence, modern infrastructure, vibrant learning ecosystem, and student-centric facilities, projecting it as a hub of quality higher education.

 

Dr. Umesh Choudhary, Incharge Head, School of Management Studies, delivered a thought-provoking session on the relevance and scope of management education in the contemporary global landscape. He elaborated on the transformative nature of an MBA programme in developing critical thinking, leadership qualities, decision-making abilities, and an entrepreneurial mindset among students. He emphasized that modern organizations seek professionals equipped with analytical acumen, adaptability, effective communication skills, and strong ethical values.

 

Dr. Choudhary further highlighted the commitment of SOMS towards nurturing these competencies through a well-structured curriculum, case-based pedagogy, industry interactions, internships, and skill development initiatives. He also outlined diverse career avenues available to MBA graduates, including finance, marketing, human resource management, operations, business analytics, consulting, and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to align their career aspirations with their interests and continuously upgrade their skills to remain competitive in the global job market, while underscoring the importance of lifelong learning and networking.

 

Dr. Rohit Bhagat, Associate Professor, conducted an engaging session focusing on placement opportunities at SOMS and emerging career prospects for management graduates. He provided valuable insights into current industry trends, employability expectations, and strategies for professional growth, offering students a practical perspective on career planning.

 

The workshop was coordinated with the active support of faculty and staff members, including Dr. Umar Sadeeq, Dr. Mehmood Ahmad, Dr. Shabir Hussain, Dr. Alyas Ahmed, Mr. Amit Kumar, Ms. Surbhi Langhe, Ms. Asma Jameel, and Ms. Bhumika Katoach, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.

 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various institutions across the country and was widely appreciated for its informative, interactive, and practical approach towards career guidance.
