JU’s Bhaderwah Campus Organizes Inter-department sports meet

Bhaderwah, September 22: The Inter-Department Sports meet commenced today at Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit among students and employees of the Campus. The three-day Sports Meet is being held from September 22 to 24, 2026.

The Sports meet features a range of sporting disciplines, including Cricket, Badminton, Chess, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Race, Shot Put and Discus Throw, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and non-teaching staff. The event provides a vibrant platform for members of the Campus community to showcase their sporting talent while fostering camaraderie and team spirit beyond the classroom.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rahul Gupta, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, said that sports are an integral part of holistic education and play an important role in inculcating discipline, leadership, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit among students.

“The University is committed to providing students with ample opportunities for their overall development. Sports not only promote physical fitness but also inculcate discipline, teamwork, leadership and mutual respect. I am pleased to see the enthusiastic participation of students and employees and hope that this Sports Meet proves to be a memorable and motivating experience for everyone.”

Prof. Rahul Gupta also expressed his gratitude to the Department of Physical Education, for extending valuable support by providing qualified referees and officials for the various sporting events, which has contributed significantly to the smooth and professional conduct of the Sports Meet. He appreciated the cooperation of the department and its officials in strengthening the sporting activities at Bhaderwah Campus..

Dr. Kuljit Singh, I/C Sports, Bhaderwah Campus, said that the Inter-Department Sports Meet has been organized to encourage wider participation in sports and provide students and employees with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a spirit of healthy competition and fair play.

“The Sports Meet is an effort to create a vibrant sporting culture at Bhaderwah Campus. Our focus is on maximum participation, fair play and team spirit. I sincerely appreciate the cooperation and support extended by the Rector, faculty members, staff, students and all members of the Sports Committee in making this event possible.”

The Sports Meet is being conducted through the coordinated efforts of the Sports Committee, Bhaderwah Campus, with emphasis on the smooth, systematic and effective conduct of all scheduled events.
