One-Day Workshop on “Data Analytics”

University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu,
organised a one-day workshop on “Data Analytics” on 25 September 2026. The workshop was organised to
enhance students’ understanding of data analytics and provide exposure to its contemporary tools, techniques
and real-world applications. The programme was designed to strengthen the interface between academic
learning and industry practice through expert interaction, hands-on exposure and data visualisation. The
sessions also highlighted the growing role of data-driven approaches in engineering, research, business and
other professional domains.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Riaz Ahmed Khan, I/C Head, Department of
Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, Kathua Campus. He highlighted the increasing relevance of data
analytics in the contemporary technological landscape and encouraged students to actively participate in the
workshop and develop practical, industry-oriented competencies.

The expert sessions were delivered by Sh. Navdeep Singh, Deputy General Manager, WinNovation
Technologies, and Er. Pavneet Kour, Senior Data Analyst, WinNovation Technologies. The resource
persons shared industry perspectives on data-driven decision-making and provided practical insights into the
exploration, analysis and visualisation of data. The sessions covered fundamentals of data analytics, relevant
tools and techniques, case studies, data visualisation and contemporary applications, enabling students to
relate classroom concepts with professional practices.
Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus, appreciated the initiative and
emphasised the significance of data and emerging technologies in education, industry and society. Dr.
Rockey Gupta, I/C Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, underscored the importance of industry-oriented
learning in developing the practical, analytical and professional competencies required in the evolving
workplace.
The workshop witnessed the presence of Er. Javaid Ahmed Rather, I/C Head, Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering; Er. Akhil Kumar, I/C Head, Department of Civil Engineering; faculty
members and students of UIET, Kathua Campus. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks
delivered by Dr. Nisha Choudhary, Faculty, Engineering Chemistry, UIET, who expressed gratitude to the
resource persons, university authorities, faculty members and students for their contribution to the successful
conduct of the workshop.
