Two-Week Online Refresher Course in Commerce & Management Inaugurated at JU
Jammu July 13: The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Jammu, in collaboration with The Business School (TBS), University of Jammu, inaugurated a two-week Online Refresher Course in Commerce and Management on the theme "Workplace Happiness, Mental Health and Well-being" today. The programme, being conducted in online mode till 25 July 2026, is spread over 12 days, 4 sessions each day of 1.5-hour duration. The course has witnessed an overwhelming response from faculty members representing universities and colleges from across the country.
Prof. Neelu Rhometra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, Chief Guest of the inaugural session in her talk applauded the efforts of MMTTC and The Business School for organising such programmes. She emphasized that the true foundation of workplace happiness lies in an individual’s ability to embark on an inward-looking journey. Prof. Neelu Rohmetra stressed that professional success is often measured through external achievementsbut on the contrary genuine happiness, peace of mind, and personal fulfilment emerge fromself-f-reflection, and continuous improvement. She encouraged the participants to make selfintrospection an integral part of their daily lives, stating that every educator should begin each day by pondering on their duty and responsibilities towards students and society. She also remarked that teaching is not merely about dissemination of knowledge but a lifelong commitment to nurturing ethical values, compassion, integrity, and excellence.
Highlighting the transformative role of teachers and academicians, she urged participants to dream big, think beyond conventional boundaries, and strive to set high standards of professionalism, morality, and integrity in every aspect of their academic journey. She further opined that workplace happiness is not created by external circumstances alone, but by cultivating a positive mindset, emotional balance, meaningful relationships, and a sense of purpose. “A happy teacher creates a happy classroom situation”, she said.
Earlier in her welcome address, Prof. Amisha Gupta, Director, The Business School and Course Coordinator, formally welcomed the guests. She emphasized that workplace happiness and mental well-being have emerged as essential pillars of organizational excellence and sustainable professional growth. She stated that the two-week refresher course has been carefully designed to provide participants with contemporary knowledge and practical insights in the areas of Commerce and Management. She encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions and make the best use of the learning opportunities provided through the programme.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Sundeep K. Pandita, Director, Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, University of Jammu highlighted the transformative role of teachers in shaping society and encouraged participants to adopt well-being practices that promote emotional balance, mindfulness, stress management, and a healthy work-life integration, enabling them to create positive and inclusive learning environments. Stressing that teachers are not merely transmitters of knowledge but architects of human values and social transformation, he urged them to uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, compassion, and academic excellence. He also appreciated the collaborative initiative of MMTTC and The Business School, University of Jammu, in organizing a timely and meaningful refresher course that addresses the evolving psychological, emotional, and professional needs of educators.
The participants appreciated the insightful deliberations and expressed their enthusiasm for the two-weeks online refresher course. They were highly inspired by the motivational inaugural address delivered by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra. Further, they described thatprogramme would provide valuable academic insights while encouraging personal growth, emotional well-being, and professional excellence.
