Design Your Degree students of University of Jammu win second prize at SMVDU exhibition

Jammu, March 12: Students from the Design Your Degree programme, University of Jammu, brought laurels to the institution by securing the second prize in the “Present a Model” category at the Smart Solution Exhibition 2.0 – Ekatva 2026 organised at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

Around 70 teams participated in the exhibition and presented innovative technological solutions.

 

The University of Jammu team showcased their project “Anubhav-X”, an immersive Virtual Reality (VR)-based temple experience that digitally recreates cultural and spiritual environments. The project enables users to virtually explore temple spaces and interact with various elements such as ringing the temple bell, thereby combining technology with cultural and interactive learning.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai congratulated the students for bringing pride to the institution and appreciated their efforts in integrating Virtual Reality with cultural heritage.

 

Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, Skill Incubation and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SIIEDC), University of Jammu, also appreciated the creativity and innovative approach of the students.

 

Prof. Jatinder Manhas, Associate Director, SIIEDC, extended his best wishes to the team and commended their hard work and innovative thinking. He encouraged them to continue developing impactful technological solutions that contribute meaningfully to society.

 

The winning team comprised Diya Rani, Kashvi Vaid, Vidhita Arora and Paridhi Mahajan, students of Design Your Degree Batch-2023, currently in Semester VI and pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology.

 

The team has also participated in an International Hackathon organised by Canadian University, Dubai, where they cleared the first round and secured the 79th rank among more than 2,000 teams worldwide in the second round. The team will next present their project Anubhav-X at AI Craft 3.1 to be hosted by Amity University.
