Aurobindo Gyan Kendra Commemorates 148th Birth Anniversary of Shri Maa

Jammu, February 21: Aligning with the University of Jammu’s commitment to holistic student development, experiential learning, emotional well-being, and the integration of value-based knowledge systems — as envisaged by Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. Umesh Rai, Aurobindo Gyan Kendra at the University of Jammu today observed the 148th birth anniversary of Shri Maa (Mirra Alfassa), the spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo.

 

The event featured a special documentary screening on the life and teachings of Shri Maa, along with floral tributes, prayers, and reflections on her profound contributions to spirituality, human unity, and holistic evolution.

 

Prof. Umesh Rai, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighted the enduring relevance of Shri Maa's philosophy, particularly her emphasis on quiet endurance, inner transformation, supramental state and integral development as pathways to success and higher consciousness. 

 

He appreciated the vision and efforts of Prof. Garima Gupta, Head, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, and Dr. Vikram Sahi in establishing the Aurobindo Gyan Kendra and organizing meaningful programmes that promote spiritual and intellectual growth among students and the university community.

 

The programme included a screening of an insightful documentary titled "A Quiet Endurance," capturing the essence of Shri Maa's life and legacy.

 

The commemoration underscored the Kendra's role as a dedicated space for engaging with the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and Shri Maa, promoting an interdisciplinary learning, holistic education, and value-based initiatives at the University of Jammu.

 

Earlier, the event commenced with a collective prayer and renewed commitment to embodying the ideals of peace, progress, and divine consciousness.

 

Dr Bhagwati Devi ably conducted the proceedings of the event.
