Display Your Talent concluded with fanfare at JU.

Display Your Talent-2022-23’ organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at the University of Jammu with huge fanfare. Sh. Rohit Kansal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, J&K Government, JKUT was the Chief Guest at the occasion. Winners of different events were felicitated by the Chief Guest Sh. Rohit Kansal in presence of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia (Registrar), Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Vishav Raksha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee),  Prof. Sanjana Kaul (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Neelu Rohmetra (Director DDE), Prof. Rajiv Ratan Sharma (Director, CDC), Dr. Anil Gupta (Associate Dean SW) Dr. Garima Gupta & Dr. Pritam Singh (Assistant Deans SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. A.R. Manhas (Dy. Proctors) and members of Campus Cultural Committee.

In his address, Sh. Rohit Kansal congratulated the organizing team behind this vibrant mega festival, which is full of enthusiasm and aspiration. Citing the role and relevance of ‘Artificial Intelligence in the coming years, he insisted that ‘Human Skills’ have still a pivotal role to play and that such wonderful cultural events stimulate those skills in youth. He also complimented Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for his innovative approach towards such endeavours. He quoted that the Universities have a very important role in the nourishment of colleges and the University of Jammu has always been an able patron, mentor and guide for its affiliated colleges. He also expressed satisfaction over the participation of many students from colleges located far and distant from Jammu province.    

Prof. Umesh Rai, in his address, congratulated Dean Students Welfare and his entire team for conducting ‘Display Your Talent’, a mega cultural festival of music, dance, theatre, fine arts & literary activities successfully. He congratulated all the participants as it was because of their active participation that a mega event of this scale could be held successfully. He asserted that such activities play a major role in shaping the overall personalities of the students. He also congratulated Campus Cultural Committee and Students Cultural Council for their active support. Giving reference to the New Education Policy, where there is a lot of focus on Cultural activities, he informed that the University of Jammu is in the process to formulate the procedure to give additional marks for Cultural, Sports, NSS, and NCC activities.

Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, welcomed the gathering. He congratulated all the participants for their energetic participation and acknowledged the contribution of each and everyone in making this event a grand success. He also mentioned that the recently launched ‘Training Outreach Programme’ by the Department of Students Welfare under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor had reaped visible fruitful results. He also informed that this year’s North Zone Youth Festival has been granted to the University of Jammu and the winners will get a chance to represent the University in that as well.

Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Vishav Raksha presented a brief report on Display Your Talent 2022-23. She informed that 27 events of music, dance, theatre, Fine arts and literary activities were conducted in Display Your Talent which is in synchronization with the events of Association of Indian Universities and around 1500 students from more than 35 colleges and teaching departments of the university participated in this mega-festival. For fair judgement and for providing exposure to the students, the department had invited eminent artists and trainers from Jammu, Punjab, New Delhi, Patna, Haryana, Mumbai etc. including eminent alumni who have represented the University at Zonal and National platforms. Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Sanjana Kaul presented the Vote of Thanks and Dr. Garima Gupta ably conducted the Valedictory Function.

Overall Champion Trophy was won by the Institute of Music and Fine Arts. The overall Runners-Up Trophy was shared by GCW, Parade and GCW Udhampur. Over All Trophy for Best Student was awarded to Charu Sharma from GCW, Udhampur. Overall Trophy for Best Performance in Theatricals was awarded to GCW, Udhampur. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Fine Arts was awarded to Sheetal Goswami from GCW Parade. Overall Trophy for Best Performance in Music was awarded to IMFA. The overall Trophy for Best performance in Quiz was awarded to Department of Zoology, JU.

Earlier in the morning, the event of Folk Dance was conducted in which the team of GCW, Udhampur stood First, GDC Ramnagar stood Second and GCW Parade stood Third. Certificates of Merit were awarded to GDC Reasi and GDC Billawar. Dr. Kanika Singh, Dr. Pratibha Singh, MS. Anju Dulloo and Dr. Balpreet Singh were the adjudicators and Dr. Ravinder Singh and Dr. Sandeep Dubey were the Teachers Incharge of the event.

Student Cultural Representatives and Volunteers Jhanvi Sharma, Sunny Singh, Insha Dawood, Palvasha Khanam, Deepika Rani, Chahat Balwal, Rohan Sharma, Aryan Chalotra, Aparna Gandotra, Manisha, Vishavpreet, Yasser Haneif, Deepak, Tahira Kalsoom, and Avinash Lakhnotra were also awarded at the occasion. Kulbhushan Thakur, Arif Paul and Vishal Sharma looked after the Hall Management.
