Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH)

Introduction

Sexual harassment at work is an unwelcome or uninvited or inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors, or any behavior of sexual nature, which is offensive, embarrassing, intimidating and effects an employee’s work performance, health, career or livelihood. Such conduct seriously undermines the atmosphere of trust and respect that is essential to a healthy work and academic environment. As per Supreme Court rulings it is the duty of the employer or other responsible persons in work places to prevent or deter the Commission of acts of sexual harassment and to provide the procedure for the resolution, settlement or prosecution of acts of sexual harassment by taking all steps required. University of Jammu, through its policies and procedures, seeks to provide an environment that is free from sexual harassment and sexual assault. All members of the University are encouraged to report promptly complaints about sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and sexual assault to the sexual harassment committee members of the University of Jammu. Persons found to be in violation of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action as per the Supreme Court rulings.
