UGC Refresher course in Environmental Sciences concludes at University of Jammu

A two weeks refresher course (RC) in Environmental sciences (Interdisciplinary) culminates at the University of Jammu, Jammu. In the beginning, Prof. S.K. Pandita, Director, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), University of Jammu welcomed the participants and dignitaries present in the valedictory session of the refresher course. Prof. Piyush Malaviya, Head, Department of Environmental science and Course Coordinator presented the overall report on the activities conducted in the refresher course. He informed that the 2 weeks RC was started on the 10th of December and the sessions were spread over 12 working days. The RC was attended by Assistant Professors from various institutions of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. Overall, 37 sessions of invited talks from eminent resource persons were conducted during the refresher course besides 8 sessions of participant's presentations and assessment. The internationally acclaimed resource persons affiliated with premier institutions of India and abroad delivered their talks on diverse and interdisciplinary aspects of environmental science. In the feedback session, various participants shared their experiences and opinions about the refresher course. Prof. M. K. Dhar Honorable Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, and Chief Guest of the occasion in his address emphasized the significance of such courses in knowledge dissemination. Prof. Dhar congratulated the participants for successfully completing the refresher course and advised them to incorporate components of National Education Policy in their curriculum and teachings. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ranjeet Kalra, Deputy Director, HRDC. The session was also attended by Prof. A.K. Raina and Dr. Deepika Slathia faculty members of the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu.
